In 2023, The Morton Arboretum expanded the impact of its tree-focused mission and advanced its vision of a greener, healthier, more beautiful world where people and trees thrive together. During the year, we became more deeply connected to communities by expanding programming and partnerships with numerous local organizations to inspire a love of trees.
For The Morton Arboretum, 2022 celebrated a century of planting and protecting trees for a greener, healthier, and more beautiful world. Through time the Arboretum has grown from Joy Morton’s vision into one of the world’s most impactful public gardens, known for its scientifically important collection of trees, relevant nature education programs, influential tree research, world-spanning conservation partnerships to safeguard trees, and its beautiful landscapes.
For The Morton Arboretum, 2021 was a year of renewal and anticipation. Even as the coronavirus pandemic continued, the Arboretum was able to successfully resume and introduce new educational programs and events, welcome a million guests on-site, and begin new initiatives–including construction of The Grand Garden–all while making a substantial impact for trees and people in the Chicago region and beyond. Leading up to its centennial year in 2022, the Arboretum has been growing stronger than ever.
For The Morton Arboretum, 2020 brought disruptions and challenges like none in its history. While the coronavirus pandemic required adaptations to norms and plans, the Arboretum stood resilient and advanced its mission to plant and protect trees for a greener, healthier, and more beautiful world.
