Wonder Woods Mini Golf returns to The Morton Arboretum starting on Friday, May 23, 2025! The imaginative, tree-themed course was specially designed for the Arboretum with the help of our research scientists.

From giant mushrooms to larger-than-life bugs and acorns, Wonder Woods brings the Arboretum’s tree science to life in fun and unexpected ways. Learn how tree rings can tell the life story of a tree, how trees support the ecosystems of bugs and wildlife, and other wonderfully cool—and surprising!—scientific concepts.

Event Details

Wonder Woods Mini Golf opens on Friday, May 23, and runs through Monday, September 1, 2025.

Players must be at least 4 years of age. Children younger than 4 may accompany player groups on the course but cannot play.

Ticket Details

Tickets for the 2025 season will be available to Arboretum members on Thursday, May 1. Tickets will be available to all on Thursday, May 15.

Wonder Woods Mini Golf tickets must be purchased in advance through the Arboretum’s online ticketing service for a specific time slot.

All players must purchase Wonder Woods Mini Golf tickets. Players who are not Arboretum members must also purchase Arboretum general admission. Children aged 4 and older require a general admission ticket to enter the Arboretum; infants aged 3 and younger are admitted for free. Members enter the Arboretum free.

Discounted Admission

Discounted evening admission to the Arboretum after 5:00 p.m. is available on Thursdays, from Friday, May 23 (Memorial Day weekend), through Monday, September 1 (Labor Day). With evening admission, guests may enter the Arboretum at 5:00 and stay until 8:00 p.m. at a price of $5 per person aged 4 and older. The last evening tee time is 7:00 p.m. Discounted admission must be purchased in addition to Wonder Woods Mini Golf tickets.

Rules

The Arboretum reserves the right to cancel play with no refund or rebooking for groups that violate course rules.

Course Rules

Players must be aged 4 or older. Adult supervision is required for players younger than 15.
Children aged 2 and 3 may accompany player groups on the course but may not handle the ball or the club.
All play must be started from the tee mat.
Only one player may tee off at a time.
A maximum of six players are allowed per group. Groups must stay together and play one hole at a time.
Groups must wait until the group ahead has finished before starting play on the next hole.
Only players may be on the course. Spectators may watch from available seating.
Swinging the putter above knee level is prohibited.
No leaning on, crawling on, or hanging on props, obstacles, and decorations.
No food or drink other than water may be brought onto the course.
Shirts and shoes must be worn on the course at all times.
Only trained service dogs are allowed on the course.
The Arboretum is a smoke-free facility. Smoking, including vaping and the use of e-cigarettes, is strictly prohibited.

Game Rules

The player may move the ball up to 6 inches from the edge of the playing area without penalty.
If the ball goes out of bounds, the player may start from the tee area and take a two-stroke penalty.
There is a seven-stroke limit for all holes.

Mini golf ticket purchases are nonrefundable, but tickets can be rebooked for a future date up to one hour ahead of the original tee time. To rebook tickets, call the ticket line at 630-725-2066.

Alternate date rebookings include a free general admission pass for those who are not members.

In the event of inclement weather or a lightning warning in the middle of play, players will be issued a rain check that can be used at a later time that day or on a different date this season.

Are Wonder Woods Mini Golf tickets included in general admission to the Arboretum?

No. Wonder Woods Mini Golf tickets must be purchased online in addition to Arboretum general admission for those who are not members.

We encourage groups to wait until the group ahead has finished before starting to play on any hole, which includes skipping ahead.

A maximum of six players are allowed per group. Larger groups will split into groups of up to six people to keep wait times to a minimum.
If there’s availability, can my group play another round right away?

If capacity allows, guests may be able to play another round for a nominal fee.
How many holes does Wonder Woods Mini Golf have?

Wonder Woods Mini Golf features nine interactive, science-themed holes to play through.
What age does my child have to be to play mini golf?

Players must be at least 4 years old to play mini golf. Adult supervision is required for players younger than 15.
Is the course accessible?

The nine-hole course is wheelchair accessible.
Are the mini golf course features interactive?

Certain elements of the mini golf course will be interactive. However, for the safety of guests, the Arboretum prohibits leaning on, climbing on, crawling on, or hanging on any of the props, obstacles, or decorations.
Can I enjoy the mini golf course without participating?

Only participating players may be on the course. Non-participants may use the available spectator seating.
Can I book Wonder Woods Mini Golf for a private event or birthday party?

Private events and birthday parties cannot be accommodated. Large groups who wish to play Wonder Woods Mini Golf will be split into smaller groups of 6.
Will food and beverages be available for purchase on the course? Can we take food and drinks onto the course?

Food and drinks, except water, will not be allowed on the course. The course is just steps away from the Visitor Center, where food and beverages are available for purchase in the Ginkgo Restaurant and Café.
Are dogs allowed on the course?

Only trained service dogs are allowed on the mini golf course.
Can I smoke or vape on the course?

The Arboretum is a smoke-free facility. Smoking, including vaping and the use of e-cigarettes, is strictly prohibited anywhere on the grounds, including the mini golf course.
