Bike rentals are available, weather permitting, from Saturday, May 3, through Friday, October 31. Rentals are available on a first come, first served basis.
Bike rental hours are 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., unless otherwise stated. The last rental start time is 3:00 p.m. The bike rental station is located in the Breezeway, a roofed open passage just outside the main entrance to the Visitor Center on the Arboretum’s East Side.
Rental costs vary depending on the equipment rented and the length of the rental period.
Guests are welcome to bring their own bicycles to ride on paved roads at the Arboretum.
Bike racks are at the following locations:
- Visitor Center (Parking Lot 1)
- Big Rock Visitor Station (Parking Lot 13)
- Thornhill Education Center (Parking Lot 21)
- Prairie Visitor Station (Parking Lot 25)

Call 630-968-0074 (after 8:30 a.m.) before visiting the Arboretum to see if rentals are being offered that day.
Please note that bike rentals are managed by an outside contractor and, as such, Arboretum gift cards cannot be used for payment.
